About Us

Creating Space for Teachers and Students to Grow

We are passionate teachers, instructors, and healers dedicated to creating a supportive space for healing and self-discovery. Our mission is to offer a welcoming environment where you can explore your practice through a diverse range of classes and workshops, each designed to inspire growth, connection, and transformation.

Our Story

Lokavindu Yoga Collective has been years in the making.

Originally founded in 2012 as Lokavindu Yoga, our small studio was tucked away in Old Town, San Diego. It began with a simple but powerful mission: to provide newly certified teachers with a space to grow their own practice and business while offering affordable yoga to the community. At the time, there was a clear gap—teacher trainings were turning out passionate instructors, but there were few spaces where they could begin their teaching journey.

We wanted to change that.

Lokavindu was created as a space to foster community, collaboration, and creativity. It was a place where teachers could build their own classes, students could connect through accessible yoga, and artists, musicians, and healers were welcomed to share their gifts. It wasn’t just a studio—it was a collective vision for healing and creative expression.

In the two years we were open, our little studio evolved into exactly what we had envisioned. But life unfolded in unexpected ways, and in 2014, the doors closed.

Now, 11 years later, we return—with more knowledge, more experience, and a renewed passion. We’re ready to bring this space back to life, and to continue the journey of healing, growth, and community that began all those years ago.

Tonatzin Romero

Hi, I’m Tonatzin Romero 36 year old mom of two little boys, a nature lover, and a passionate yoga teacher. For the past 10 years, I’ve had the joy of sharing the practice of yoga with people of all ages, from curious little ones to mindful adults.

My teaching style is rooted in connection, creating a space where everyone feels safe, supported, and free to be themselves. Whether we’re flowing through movement or finding stillness in breath, I aim to make each class playful, welcoming, and meaningful.

Outside the studio, you’ll often find me teaching science, learning something new, walking in nature or baking sweet treats in the kitchen. I believe in living a balanced life, full of joy, presence, and human connection and that’s exactly what I hope to offer through my classes.

Let’s move, breathe, and grow together.
